Your own beauty reflected

December 30, 2019 Satish

Narcissus was hunter, the son of forest goddesses. He was young and known for his beautiful eyes. Narcissus would knelt daily beside a Lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the Narcissus.

When Narcissus died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.
“Why do you weep?” the goddesses asked.
“I weep for Narcissus,” the Lake replied.
“Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus, for though we all in the forest always pursued him in the forest, you alone could look his beauty from so close.”
“But … was Narcissus beautiful?” the Lake asked.
“Who better than you know that?” the goddesses said in wonder. “After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to look himself !”
The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it said: “I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.”

“What a lovely story ! “
A Lake could see his own beauty in the depths of Narcissus’s eyes, but never recognized beauty of Narcissus. Few people enter into our life and make us feel special, but seldom we recognize them. Its in their presence we feel free and happy, but their absence makes us restless. They show us our capabilities and elevates us high from where we are. They are the birds of sky, born to live free & happy and make us feel free & happy.
If you get some who made you feel special, never forget them, not because they want you to remember them but because its in the depths of their eyes you could see your own beauty reflected !
